A KEY QUESTION
Ask which suitable option preserves the most natural tooth.
Get changes checked
Report cracks, chips, looseness, sharp edges or a changed bite, even without pain. Mention any injury or biting incident. Keep detached pieces. Never use household glue, pull off a partly attached restoration or reshape or refit it yourself. Ask about precautions while waiting, especially if chewing causes movement.
Check the supporting tooth
The dentist needs to distinguish surface damage from deeper cracks or tooth damage. Ask about fit, edges, decay and surrounding gums. Previous root canal treatment, posts or large fillings also matter. Check whether the remaining tooth and root can support treatment and whether further investigation is needed.

Compare the options
Damaged or loose veneers may need rebonding, repair or replacement. Composite is generally easier to repair than porcelain, but damage, remaining material and bite determine suitability. For crowns, ask whether repair or refitting is possible. Clarify whether a repair is temporary, its limits and how it will be reviewed.

Preserve natural tooth
Ask what removing and replacing the restoration would involve, including further tooth preparation and findings that may emerge only after removal. If appearance is the concern, consider keeping the existing work. A proposed change from veneer to crown needs a tooth-specific reason and discussion of alternatives.
When to seek help
Severe, persistent or worsening pain, swelling, fever or a bad taste with other symptoms needs prompt dental advice; severe symptoms need urgent assessment. Breathing or swallowing difficulty, substantial mouth or neck swelling, or swelling around an eye needs immediate local emergency care.
Away from your original clinic, seek local assessment. Share records between teams. Do not delay necessary care for overseas replacement or warranty discussions.
Plan reviews and costs
There is no universal replacement date or lifetime guarantee. Discuss cleaning, bite, grinding and repeated breakage. Best Smile Turkey coordinates enquiries; the treating dental team provides treatment. Confirm costs for temporary protection, laboratory work, reviews and travel.
