IF YOU FEEL NERVOUS

Plan the conversation at your pace.

You can start by saying what would make an appointment easier. Ask the team to confirm which arrangements it can provide before you travel.

  1. Before booking

Ask whether the first appointment can focus on discussion and assessment. Mention your preferred pace, language support or a support person.

  2. Before the appointment begins

Discuss a pause signal, planned breaks and how the team will check you are ready to continue. Say whether you prefer step-by-step explanations or less detail.

  3. Before agreeing to treatment

Ask the dentist to explain the options, risks and costs in a way you understand. If the plan changes, ask for time to consider it and an updated written plan.

Words you can use in your enquiry

“I feel nervous about dental appointments. Can we discuss the first visit, explanations, a pause signal and breaks before I book? Please confirm what support is available.”

Ask the treating dentist which sedation options are available, whether they are suitable for you, what they cost and what support you would need.

Take time to decide.

Ask again if anything is unclear. You can take time to consider your options or seek a second opinion. Photographs and prices alone cannot tell you whether treatment is right for you.

It can also help to speak to your regular dentist about your dental history before considering care abroad.

Independent information for UK patients

The General Dental Council’s guide to treatment abroad suggests questions to ask before treatment outside the UK. The NHS dental treatment guide explains common procedures. These are independent resources. The links do not mean that either organisation endorses Best Smile Turkey.

Clinic checks before booking

We coordinate care through separate partner clinics. Before booking, request evidence of health-tourism authorisation, dentist registration, implant and material records, imaging and laboratory details, and written aftercare arrangements.
