A KEY QUESTION
Check your actual procedure, each trip, exclusions and costs you would pay yourself.
At a glance.
| Arrangement | Check | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Travel policy | Planned-treatment exclusions | Emergency dental cover includes planned work |
| Specialist cover | Accepted procedures, events and limits | Every complication is covered |
| Treatment guarantee | Covered work, return travel and how to arrange it | Unrelated costs are covered |
General differences to discuss with your dentist. This comparison does not determine which treatment is suitable for you.
Explain the purpose of your trip
The NHS says specialist insurance may be needed for planned treatment abroad. Emergency dental cover does not establish cover for planned implants, crowns or veneers. Ask whether travelling for treatment affects the whole policy, including unrelated incidents.
GHIC and EHIC do not cover this trip
Neither card is valid in Turkey. They also do not cover travelling abroad for planned treatment. Do not rely on either for your Antalya dental care.
Get written answers
Give the procedure, destination, dates and separate treatment stages. Ask for the relevant clauses, exclusions, excesses and limits.
- Is treatment itself covered, or only specified complications?
- Which emergency care and repatriation costs are covered?
- What cancellation or postponement reasons qualify?
- Are delayed flights, extra nights or later return trips covered?
- What cover applies to a companion’s extra costs?
- When must I contact assistance or get expenses approved?
Keep declarations accurate
Answer questions about health, medicines and treatment accurately, using the insurer’s secure route. Telling the clinic does not inform the insurer.
If procedures, dates or the number of visits change, check that cover still applies. For staged implant treatment, confirm cover for each journey.
Keep the documents accessible
Save the full policy, schedule, written answers, assistance number and treatment plan. Ask which invoices or clinical reports a claim would need and how to obtain them. Record costs that remain yours.
This guide cannot confirm cover or give personalised insurance or legal advice. The insurer must explain the policy for your circumstances.
