A KEY QUESTION
Follow the product instructions. Have a loose or painful denture assessed before using more adhesive.
What has changed?
Tell the dentist when the denture lifts, tips or rubs, which denture is affected and when the problem began. Bring the appliance and the adhesive packaging. Its age and any recent adjustments are useful details.
Is adhesive suitable?
Creams, powders and strips have different instructions. The dentist can advise whether a product suits your denture, lining and mouth. Get specific advice after surgery or if you have implant attachments; difficulty seating an attachment needs assessment.

When the fit needs attention
The jaw changes after teeth are removed, so dentures can become loose. An examination can establish whether adjustment, relining or replacement would help. Report damage, persistent soreness or difficulty seating the denture. Do not file it, bend parts or use household glue.
Using and removing adhesive
Have the amount and placement demonstrated using your product. Follow its application limits and remove residue as directed from both the denture and mouth. Mention irritation or difficulty handling the tube so the routine can be adapted.
Before your appointment
A short note of when movement or discomfort occurs can help. There is no need to provoke pain to test the fit. Bring the denture even if you cannot wear it comfortably, and agree a review after any adjustment.
Getting help after travel
If you travel for treatment, find out where later adjustments can be made and what any aftercare terms cover. Significant pain or swelling needs timely local dental advice; do not wait for a future trip.
