A KEY QUESTION
Find out what you can review before preparation, and what still needs checking before final attachment.
At a glance.
| Stage or tool | What it can help discuss | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Photo or AI illustration | An appearance preference to explain to the dentist. | Clinical suitability, physical fit, speech or the final result. |
| Wax-up or digital model | A proposed shape on a physical or digital model. | How that shape will feel in your mouth. |
| In-mouth mock-up | A physical trial to discuss contours, length and relevant functional checks. | The final ceramic colour, durability or a guarantee that no preparation is needed. |
| Final restoration try-in | Fit, shape and appearance of the actual proposed restoration before attachment. | Freedom from future problems or the need for maintenance. |
General differences to discuss with your dentist. This comparison does not determine which treatment is suitable for you.
Ask what the preview actually is
A wax-up or digital model proposes a tooth shape. An in-mouth mock-up transfers it into temporary trial material for assessment in the mouth, when the clinician considers this suitable.
Best Smile Turkey’s WhatsApp photo preview is an AI-assisted illustration, not an in-mouth mock-up, examination or treatment plan. A picture cannot test bite or speech.
The explanation of Best Smile Turkey’s WhatsApp photo-preview request describes the optional illustration request and its privacy choices.
What can happen before preparation?
Ask whether the trial can happen before irreversible preparation, or requires reshaping even to show the proposal. Starting teeth and intended changes matter; adding material cannot represent every plan.
The cited clinical case illustrates one workflow before veneer preparation. It is not comparative evidence that this method is best or predicts your outcome.
Make your feedback specific
Ask which appearance, speech and bite checks suit the trial. Describe what feels too long, broad or different when speaking, and compare front and side views.
Record your preferences for the next stage. Safe preparation, gum contour and bite adjustment remain clinical decisions.
- What can this trial show accurately, and what is approximate?
- Which shape or speech concerns should we resolve now?
- Will a revised design need another review before treatment continues?

A trial, temporary teeth and final try-in differ
A diagnostic mock-up is not automatically something to take home. Temporary crowns or veneers may protect prepared teeth between appointments. Ask what has been placed, when it comes off and which care instructions apply.
At the final try-in, the dentist checks the actual restoration’s fit and shape before bonding. Raise appearance concerns then: an earlier mock-up cannot replace this check or reproduce every ceramic colour and finish.
If temporary restorations will remain between appointments, read about caring for temporary crowns and veneers alongside your dentist’s individual instructions.
Allow time to reconsider
Before agreeing, understand preparation, alternatives, risks and costs. Ask what happens if you request changes or pause. Consent requires an understood treatment proposal, not just approval of a photograph.
Before travelling, ask the dentist which trial stages are available, what each costs and whether revision appointments are included. Check what you would pay if a change delayed your treatment or return journey.
If veneers are being considered, check the veneer planning and fitting stages. Ask where the proposed trial fits, when you can reconsider and which appointments must be confirmed before travelling.
